Open WebsiteI led UX, design, full‑stack development, and training for eec.ky.gov, a consolidation of the Energy & Environment Cabinet’s sub‑entities into one robust agency website. The project required balancing cabinet‑level branding with the needs of individual departments, while giving staff better tools to manage content across a large, distributed organization.
The challenge was not just to move pages, but to build a structure where dozens of teams could manage their content without breaking the experience.
Over an 18‑month redesign, I worked closely with cabinet leadership and subject‑matter experts to define a unified information architecture and navigation that made it easier for the public to find programs, data, and contacts across Environmental Protection, Natural Resources, Energy, and related offices. I designed and implemented a customized permissions matrix so each agency and division could manage its own content safely, and built live search filters reused throughout the site—from directories to document libraries—so users could quickly narrow results and see highlighted matches in place. I also automated page sections to pull in content as items were created and updated, reducing manual maintenance. Alongside the build, I provided extensive SharePoint and accessibility training so staff could confidently maintain pages, configure queries, and keep content compliant after launch.
