Kentucky Proud App Icon

This project was a full graphics pass for the Kentucky Proud iPhone app, which was built to help people find stores and markets carrying Kentucky Proud products. The brief was to extend the existing Kentucky Proud brand into something that would feel at home on an iOS home screen.

The original app has since been retired, and today Kentucky Proud offers a web-based search to help people find local products, but the grocery bag icon still captures that same idea of connecting shoppers to Kentucky producers.

The icon needed to say ‘local food’ and ‘Kentucky Proud’ in a single glance on a crowded home screen.

The illustration keeps the bag simple and geometric while letting the produce carry most of the detail and color. That balance keeps the icon readable at small sizes without feeling flat or generic.

All of the app graphics were built to align with Apple’s icon requirements at the time—retina sizes, rounded-corner crops, and clean edges—so the grocery bag could scale from small list views up to App Store promotional artwork without losing clarity.
